Fleur-de-lis Oratory Set

March 2018 - March 2020

This fleur-de-lis full oratory set was commissioned for a personal chapel and consisted of four pews, an altar, and a lectern.

The fleur-de-lis was the common motif, bringing the pews, altar, and lectern together as a set. The fleur-de-lis is an historic Marian image, literally meaning "flower of the lily", symbolizing purity.

Another common motif in this set was the Mandorla, the almond shape that is often used in Catholic iconography and architecture.

The central carving of the set was the Victorious Lamb of Revelation, featured in the altar. The Lamb of Revelation recalls not only Christ's victory over death through the Old Testament image of a sacrificial lamb, but also the Lamb of God who is found worthy to break the seven seals of Revelation.

This set was constructed of red oak, stained to antique walnut, and finished with polyurethane.
