Ark of the Covenant Kneelers

Highlighting the importance of the Ark of the Covenant in the new Covenant of Christ, this kneeler marries Old Testament imagery and Eucharistic symbolism. The central panel displays the Ark of the Covenant with Mary's 'Fiat', emphasizing Mary as the new Ark of the Covenant. Atop the Ark is the true manna from heaven, the Eucharist, adored by two angels according to the rubrics of the Old Testament Ark.
Either side of the kneeler features the other two sacred items in the Ark of the Covenant, the Ten Commandments…
… and the rod of Aaron.

These walnut kneelers were made for Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in St. Francisville, LA and were designed to match different elements in the church, specifically the diamond pattern on the bottom of the kneeler and the fleur-de-lis atop the side panels.
